We're Big Maggy's — a team of cyclists, problem-solvers and familiar faces with around 100 years of combined experience and a shared love of helping people enjoy life on two wheels.
Different interests. Different riding styles. One very welcoming bike shop.
A bike shop with a family feel.
Some of us race. Some tackle triathlons. Some commute, ride with the family or head out simply because a bike ride makes the day better. There are runners among us too, along with a devoted dog lover and at least one enthusiastic guinea-pig representative.
A good bike shop should be somewhere you feel comfortable asking a question, bringing in a problem or getting excited about your next ride.
That's the atmosphere we aim for at Big Maggy's. Friendly advice, proper attention and people who take the time to understand what you need. Whether you're sorting out a family commuter, preparing for your first triathlon or planning a dream build, you're welcome here.
We take the work seriously. Ourselves? Usually a little less so.
A CENTURY OF EXPERIENCE BETWEEN US
Experience you can lean on.
Between us, we've spent around a century fitting, fixing, building, riding and talking about bikes. That experience helps us ask the right questions, work through the details and find solutions that make sense for the person in front of us.
Everyone's priorities are different. Comfort, confidence, practicality, performance — we start with what matters to you.
Our fit-first approach runs through the business: understand the rider, then help them choose the right bike, position and equipment.

Knowledge and enthusiasm go a long way. A sense of humour helps too.
EMILY
The glue that holds us together.
Emily keeps us organised, keeps things moving and makes sure good intentions turn into things actually getting done. We're all just a little bit terrified of her — affectionately, of course — because she can spot an unfinished job at twenty paces.
Every team needs someone who makes it all work, and Emily is ours.
Her softer side is easily found, though: arrive with a dog and you may briefly become the second-most-interesting customer.
CHRIS
Fuelled by knowledge, riding after hours.
Our go-to for nutrition and fuelling advice, Chris knows how to keep a rider going. His favourite bike these days is his Wahoo Smart Bike — mostly because it fits into the small gap left after work and family duties are finished.
If there's a mysterious late-night effort appearing on your training feed, there's a fair chance Chris has finally found an hour to himself.
JAY
From “20K Jay” to setting the pace.
Our newest shareholder and member of the management team, Jay has come a long way since the nickname “20K Jay” first stuck. These days, he's comfortably the strongest of us on the bike — by a margin the rest of us would prefer not to discuss.
With a degree in Business Management & Economics, he's also technically the only one formally qualified to manage Big Maggy's. The rest of us are hoping experience and enthusiasm still count.
ANDY
A wise head with a colourful past.
Before joining our workshop crew, Andy headed the Airport Fire Service. The Chief, no less. So he's very good at putting out fires — although, he mostly managed the people doing the actual firefighting.
That calm head and ability to keep people organised come in rather handy in a busy bike shop. He brings steady experience, practical judgement and the distinguished grey hair to match.
Andy was also racing mountain bikes before most of us knew what a mountain bike was. In pink Lycra, apparently. We won't hold that against him. It was the nineties, and some things were beyond anyone's control.
RICHARD
Representing the smaller members of the animal kingdom.
Every team needs balance. While Emily looks after the canine interests, Richard keeps the guinea-pig constituency firmly represented.
Bikes may bring us together, but our conversations don't always stay on two wheels.
TONY
Big ideas, bigger frame size.
At five-foot-something, Tony rides a size 58. We're told it's a carefully considered personal choice.
The team suspects small-man syndrome has somehow found its way onto the geometry chart.
THE SATURDAY CREW
Our young guns. Keeping us on our toes.
Quick, curious and impressively well informed. They regularly explain products to us that we hadn't realised we even sold. We bring the years of experience; they keep us on our toes. Together, it's a mix of knowledge, enthusiasm and personalities that makes the place feel like Big Maggy's.

For us, supporting cycling goes beyond the shop door. From young athletes finding their feet to major events coming to the island, we're proud to play our part in keeping people moving.
Jersey Tristars Academy
We've helped support the Jersey Tristars Academy for the past five years, backing the next generation as they build their skills, confidence and love of the sport.
Accuro International Triathlon
We provide technical support to the Accuro International Triathlon every year, bringing our workshop experience to the event and supporting the athletes taking part.
SuperTri Jersey
We also provide technical support for SuperTri Jersey, part of the global SuperTri League — an opportunity to help support top-level racing here on our island.

You don't need a race result, an expensive bike or an encyclopaedic knowledge of components to belong. An interest in riding is a very good start.
