Magnus Backstedt was born in Linkoping Sweden on 30th January 1975  and became a professional cyclist in 1996.  Magnus showed signs of his immense talent in the spring of 1998 by placing 7th in the Queen of the Classics – Paris-Roubaix.  He went on to win a stage of the Tour De France that year and officially hit the big time. Magnus or ‘Maggy’ continued his successes as a professional for a number of years before claiming his greatest win in the 2004 Paris-Roubaix.

In 2007 Magnus signed for Jonathan Vaughters’ Slipstream team and went on to become Swedish National Road Race Champion before retiring after a series of crashes.  Magnus is now a familiar voice on Eurosport and Cycling.tv in the commentary box. In 2009 Maggy formed a partnership with Tony Moffa and Ian Williams along with Sprocket Pro Cycling Team Manager Marty MacDonald and developed the 1st Big Maggys Coffee and Bike Store in Jersey.

As an active Cancer charity campaigner Maggy continues to support charities such as Forza-G in the USA and Christopher’s Smile in the UK through the sale of Magnus Maximus Coffee.
