Wind & Rain
The forecast for today was never good. It had been predicted to be 45mph winds and prolonged very heavy rain showers. At 0720 this morning the winds hadn’t arrived – at least not in the trees at the end of my garden. As I was riding down St Saviours hill to meet Tony for a swift espresso at the Bean before the club ride, I found myself pushing the gears against the wind and I was nearly 15kph slower than I normally freewheel down it – not a good sign. Even worse was that the Bean was shut.! Mental note, Big Maggys to open at 0830 or before on a Sunday. Luckily the Pomme was open for a swift one and as we left the heavens opened and the wind picked up to stupid speeds. I decided that today was a day for sitting on the sofa with a cup of Magnus Maximus and flicking between Eurosport and reading the paper – just as you will be able to do in Big Maggys.
