Taking Shape

A lack of Blogging is not due to an excessive amount of time on my bike I am sorry to say, but due to a combination of flying and working at Big Maggys. The panic button has been half pushed (by me anyway) and we are starting to see things take shape in a small number of days. For a long time the ground floor has looked like a scale model of the Ypres fields during 1916 with a lot of trenches and digging. Today most of it was filled in and I am assured that tomorrow morning the first job will be to concrete the rest to floor level. The drains have been installed and the new water feed pipes are sorted. Moffs really does deserve to wear his pants outside his jeans, strut about like a superhero and be called MOFFAMAN, however, for now and the next few days we can leave him with his tool belt and call him Bob. The great majority of the construction of Big Maggys has been down to him and I am truly in awe (or is it Ore or Oar?) of his carpentry skills. I would love to be able to say that he can’t do my job but unfortunately I can’t as he does hold a flying license too. Thanks also must go to all those folks who braved the cold last Sunday to lend a hand with ‘Operation Paint Preparation’. Next weekend we will be starting ‘Operation Paint Application’ and Wing Commander Mitchinson will again be looking for suitable candidates who do not suffer from a fear of heights to apply for the position of senior applicator.
On the goody front, I am sure you have seen the Big Maggys kit that has ben displayed on Moffs blog page. At the moment we are limiting supply of these kits to just 20 sets so make sure you get your order in quickly.:) Principia is a brand of frame that many thought had gone out of business. I am pleased to say that they haven’t, and very soon you will be able to get your hands on a frame identical to the ones raced by Sean Kelly’s AN Post team. The first of the Wilier bikes should be arriving within the next couple of days and I am certainly looking forward to a closer inspection of some fine Italian curves. A box of Castelli cycling kit arrived a couple of days ago and after Moffs, Myself, my wife, his girlfriend and a couple of mates had decided what we were going to have for ourselves we decided we had better re-order and add a few more bits for everyone else. We are in negotiation with a new frame manufacturer for the production of a frameset in the mid price range that could see a full carbon bike between your legs for about £1500. Watch this space over the coming days for more info.
Bed time now as I am on the hunt for a couple of small basins at crack of sparrows tomorrow before I go flying.
