Meetings
This afternoon Moffs & I were in Costa coffee for an initial meeting with a potential sponsor for the next years Town Crit. This company are very interested in what we can put together for them to promote their name and products over the course of the cycling weekend of the crit. Watch this space for further info. Whilst we were having our meeting, a young mothers meeting was taking place on the tables directly behind us complete with their kids and pushchairs. I was amazed at just how much space five women and their offspring and the associated paraphernalia could take up, and even more amazed at how much merss and noise they could create. If I hadn’t seen what they had ordered I would have sworn that a main character from the bible had created fourteen loaves, five caramel shortbreads, three mochas, one latte out of a glass of water and a croissant, the mess was gob-smacking.! (Loaves, fishes and the left overs if you don’t remember) I may have mentioned before, but I am seriously considering making Big Maggys a ‘No Pushchair Zone’.
The second meeting of the afternoon was with Naish Waddington to thrash out the interior design. ‘By Jove I think they have it’ – not quite the words we were uttering but it was a significant step forward. All of us liked the upstairs design and with a bit of getting used to it and a bit of creative engineering I wont have so much of an issue with the downstairs. I have to admit to being a bit pissed off at spending 20 minutes discussing floor coverings when I know who will make the final decision and it wont be the planning department. TIME IS MONEY with these people and the floor covering will be cheaper than those 20 minutes. However, it is done now and this weekend we will start the ripping out in preparation for the installation of the new.
Last meeting of the day was with the lawyers to sort out the final bit of the bank requirements. Now it is full speed ahead (or FSA for short) to get the shop opened .
Speaking of FSA – Ceramic bearings. Those of you who don’t have the Red anodised BB bearing cups should consider the investment. Friction means more work to overcome and some of us need all the help we can get. Speak to Moffs or Me if you fancy a set of Red Ball holders on your christmas list.
A chance meeting with Tim Barnes on my way to the car and just as his daughter, Victoria was pointing out which bike she wanted Santa to squeeze down the chimney. Tim , if you are reading this it was the black and green one.!
