Leaving the Business to Run it-sefl

Well, when I say run itself, what I mean is Michaelangelo, Pilotboy and Gunther will take over management and responsibility for Big Maggys whilst I go galavanting in Cape Town for a few days of ‘testing’ on our Argon 18 Gallium Pro.. Expect a full report in the fullness of time.

Now when I travel I pike to plan everything meticulously and leave no stone un-turned. My roomie Whiteside will verify this Im sure. The taxi- arrived 10 minutes before I finished packing my bike into the bike box, I hadn’t yet decided how many pairs of superman pants to take with me to last the whole week or how many Wilier T-shirts (Im a walking sandwich board on this trip advertising all things Big Maggys) would be acceptable to wear… Not only this but believe it or not I ALMOST forgot my shoes again!! This despite being jibed about forgetting them last night by Bobio at the race meeting! So as Torty would say, ‘who’s's the dickhead now huh’??’

Nuff of that. My most common saying in life apart from ‘anything’s possible’ is that all things work themselves out and you don’t always need to plan to the enth degree, like for example packing your daily vitamins into separate color-coded tuppaware containers a week before a trip or shipping ahead containers of energy drink so you don’t need to pack them on the day. It has to be said though that this outlook can sometimes leave oneself with egg over one’s face – take for instance the time I left Jersey confident of reaching Switzerland from St Malo in 7 hours if travelling at an illegal 150mph for most of the way but neglecting to find out what time the mountain pass to the resort closes! That could have been a cold night sleeping in the chav mobile!

Alas, sometimes though winging it does has it’s benefits – if Id have planned today out properly, I’d be travelling in a stuffy mobbed coach crowd to Heathrow with my bike between my legs on the M25 lodged between a smell fat dude and some weirdo… Instead, the amazing Mrs Pushmeister has organised a luxury private mini-bus transfer so we’re in the lap of lux for an hour – bliss!

I trust by now some of you will have experienced the new window seats at Big Maggys? Let us know hat you think – we’ll probably be trialling a range of stools over the coming months to get the formula right.

In the meantime, I haven’t got time to sit around blogging all day, I’ve got some beer drinking and cycling to do in the basking sunshine of SA – oh and a wine tour! One thing I’ve decided against trying down in SA on this trip is swimming in the sea for 2 reasons; firstly because apparently the sea temperature is little over 5 dégs which will be a shocker when the air temp is close to 40degs at times of the day and secondly; a man got eaten by a great white shark in Cape Town last week as the word on the street goes!!!

So, to the three Big Maggys fort holders, so long and don’t burn the place to it’s knees please Louise x
