Hole in the Road – an update
Sunday morning at 0830 the lorry & vans arrived and the road was closed, traffic diverted and work commenced. Initial estimate for completion was about 5 hours (£600 per hour divided by 4 workmen and a bit of machinery). It is now 1030 and the estimate has been put back to 6 hours as ‘ the pipes go two into one’ (civil engineer speak). Now that we are into an hourly rate closer to a lawyer or dentist I am beginning to feel a bit happier and find myself hoping that it takes longer.
The upside of this expense is the constant flow of hot water for the showers we are installing for commuter subscribers and the constant water supply to the coffee machine.

Holy crap that is a big hole in the road. Did St Helier come to a standstill when they dug that one.

Suprisingly it had less effect than the snow that fell later in the day.
