Christophers Smile Success

I thought I’d give you all an update on where our money goes.  As many of you know Christopher’s Smile is the charity we support with proceeds from our coffee sales.

In 2010 Karen and Kevin Capel raised a staggering amount of money which helped fund a researcher for the 2nd year running to support the development of new drugs to treat kids with cancer.  Their efforts are amazing considering they are such a tiny charity in comparison to the mainstream ones. I really like the concept of Christoper’s Smile and the ethos behind Karen and Kevin’s work. Some charities are out there saving the world and trying to change the world which is admirable but sometimes it’s easier to ‘connect‘ with a charity when their goals are more measurable and specific.  Aiming to put a researcher in place and fund their costs for a fixed period of time to develop a specific drug or clinical trial is a VERY specific goal.  I for one can believe in that and get on board with it.

I also like the fact that this is all about a theme – ‘traceability’ i.e. where do the coffee donations go? There is a synergy between the traceability of these donations and the traceability of our coffee ie. we use Coopers (www.coopercoffee.co.uk) because David and his team are passionate about the origination of their product.

Anyway, for ore info visit www.ChristophersSmile.org.uk  and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE support this charity.

As one of the founders of Christopher’s Smile, along with Christopher’s dad Kevin, we would like to say that we are privileged to have the support of Big Maggy’s and we really value the donations being made to the charity. Every penny donated goes to where it is needed and we will ensure that we do our utmost to make a difference for children being diagnosed with cancer. Please feel free to contact us for any information about our work – we’d love to hear from you and welcome any help! Karen Capel
