Back to School
The last ten days have been a bit hectic and something or things had to give. My health was the first to go with a severe bout of Man Flu caught from one of the First Officers I was flying with last week – Thanks Neil. As a result of feeling like death warmed up my training has lapsed too (already!!) so my main target for the 2010 season is looking increasingly like the Duo in September. The third thing to give was my time in front of my computer and the general household administration hence bills remain unpaid and my blog hasn’t been updated. I have managed a few days in Big Maggys and as you may have seen from Tony’s picture I managed to get the concrete breaker wedged in the trench I was digging. Things are progressing well and we are still looking at being open to all and sundry on March 1st.
This weekend I have gone back to school for a course run by British Cycling to qualify me as a level one cycling coach. Right now I should be preparing tomorrow’s class, but you know how it is with homework – any excuse not to do it…. so here I am. There were a lot of admiring looks at the Blue AC1SL as I left it in the bike parking area today. I have managed to get out on it for a proper shakedown run (before my flu set in) and after 3 hours in the saddle I can report that i am very happy with it. The turn in is extremely precise, the balance is inspiring and somehow it seems to transfer the power from the chainset into instantaneous speed. It seems so much faster and more responsive than my Felts were and yet a bit more grounded on the road. If I were a bit fitter then Moffs would be worried as he knows I would be showing him the rear end of a pair of 60mm Gipiemme wheels at about 55kph. If anyone wants to try it out then it will be in Big Maggys from March 1st (picture or two will appear here when it is cleaned again).
Right, must go and do the homework, must go and do the homework, must go and do the homework, where is the TV remote?
