A Tadge Chilly

Having started the day with the ‘painter’ sorting out a work plan in Big Maggys, a brief spell underneath my bike got the DI2 cables back on in time to meet Leo for a ride and a chat to plan some of the events we, at Big Maggys, are likely to be involved with during 2010. The maximum temperature in Jersey today was 3 (three) degrees C (bloody cold) so our meet at one O’clock was at the warmest part of the day. A light easterly wind blew in from Siberia and straight in our faces so by the time we reached Gorey we needed to stop to get warm again (Leo’s toes and fingers suffering badly ). We had managed a good pace at between 25 and 35kph but the wind chill effect was a bit too much. Further around the island we stopped again at Haut Croix and took refuge in the Spar to warm up again before getting a shift on towards the airport and our respective homes and hot showers. Despite wearing a lot of clothing we obviously need more – three pairs of socks next time. The outcome of our chat today has still to be finalized but it will involve a tour, a lot of cyclists, a load of riding, some more new kit and a few people you may not have expected to see on two wheels – details will be at Big Maggys when we open in March.
Time now to look at more fridges….
