A Couple of Unexpected Nights Away
Summary – Stranded in Guernsey on Tuesday evening following the closure of Jersey Airport because the runway was covered with slush ( . Wednesday morning (still wearing clothes from tuesday) I was flying to the Isle of Man when a technical issue forced us to divert to Exeter, in itself not too much of a problem but the problem wasn’t fixed til nearly 9 in the evening. Luckily the passengers were rescued and got to their destination only six hours late. I arrived back in Guernsey about an hour after the last flight to Jersey so another night on the northern rock with no toothbrush.
Thursday. Alarm clock set for 0630 to get the first flight home for a decent shower and to clean my teeth properly. ). Moffs was waiting on Big Maggys for a hand with the continuing deconstruction of the shower, storage and mechanics area so at about 11 we got cracking & smashing.
The upstairs part of the cafe has moved at a pace and is very nearly finished. The wallpaper is all on the walls and most of the painting is complete. Very exciting.
There is a little over six weeks till we open to the public. This time last week I was convinced that we wouldn’t need the help of Nick Knowles and his crew from daytime tv, but this week I am beginning to wonder. Maybe I should think about doing some networking – just in case.
Tomorrow is Saturday and I am hoping that the forecast gales and heavy rain doesn’t arrive so that we can get a velosport club ride going. Coffee republic at 0830 for a swift esspresso before the start from the steamclock at 0900. I am looking forward to taking the Blue AC1sl out in some dry weather, so far it has had a damp outing and a few hours on the rollers.
Time to go flying again now so hopefully I will see some of you in the morning.
